Chicago Board of Education unanimously votes to halt school closures until 2027
The Chicago Board of Education will vote on a resolution to prohibit school closings until 2027 at their monthly board meeting Thursday. The proposal comes at a time when the district is facing accusations of clandestinely plotting to close schools. Also plaguing the district are reports that Mayor Brandon Johnson asked CPS Chief Executive Officer Pedro Martinez to resign.
