Chicago Fire earn a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC on a late Jonathan Dean goal but are eliminated from playoff contention

Jonathan Dean scored his first MLS goal in the 84th minute for the Chicago Fire in a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC on Saturday night at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview.

The Fire (7-16-9), who have won only once in their last eight games, were eliminated from playoff contention with two matches remaining in the season.

Ariel Lassiter cut back to evade a defender and then played an arcing ball from the left corner of the area to the back post, where a charging Dean tapped in from point-blank range to cap the scoring.

Prince Owusu converted a penalty kick in first-half stoppage time to give Toronto (11-17-4) a 1-0 lead at halftime.
