1 dead, 2 injured in traffic accident overnight in McKinley Park neighborhood

The driver of a Lexus was pronounced dead, and two other people, including his passenger were injured overnight in an accident in the McKinley Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m., the driver of a black Lexus sedan was headed north in the 3500 block of South Ashland Avenue when he blew a red light and was struck by a KIA SUV, police said.

The driver of the Lexus was ejected from his vehicle that struck a building, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger of the Lexus was taken to Stroger Hospital with an injury to a leg. The driver of the KIA suffered an injury to a hand, and was taken to UChicago Medicine, police said.

The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating.
