1 in custody with gunshot wound, 2 flee after Chatham armed robbery Saturday

One offender suffered a gunshot wound and was in custody, and two other offenders fled in an unknown direction after an armed robbery in the Chatham neighborhood Saturday, according to police.

The Chicago Police Department said a man working in business establishment in the 100 block of West 87th Street was approached by three unknown offenders around 9 a.m. The offenders displayed guns and demanded property.

Police said they took an unknown amount of money and fled through a backdoor.

One of the offenders, 27, suffered a gunshot wound in the leg and was placed in custody by responding officers, according to police. A weapon was recovered.

The two other offenders fled in an unknown direction.

Police said the business worker, 29, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, and Area Two detectives were investigating.
