15-year-old boy among 6 wounded overnight in South Austin neighborhood, cops say

A 15-year-old boy was among six people wounded in an exchange of gunfire overnight in the South Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 1:45 a.m., police found multiple people shot in the 100 block of South Menard Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood.

An 18-year-old woman was shot three times to the leg, and was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 23-year-old man was shot once to the leg and was taken in good condition to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park. Another 23-year-old man suffered a wound to the hip, and was taken in good condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. A 20-year-old woman was shot to the back, and taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital. A 25-year-old man was shot to the arm, and taken in fair condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. The sixth victim, a 15-year-old boy, suffered a gunshot wound to the back, and was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

No one was in custody for the mass shooting, and detectives were investigating.
