15-year-old girl among 2 wounded Thursday morning in South Shore

A 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man were wounded Thursday morning in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 11:15 a.m., the victims were walking in the 7400 block of South Yates Boulevard when a gray sedan approached and someone opened fire. The man was struck to the right leg and hand and was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was listed in fair condition, police said.

A 15-year-old girl was struck to the hip and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, but her condition was not immediately known.

The vehicle used in the shooting fled west on 74th Street and no one was in custody.
