2 fans charged with trespassing after delaying last inning of White Sox-Cubs City Series game

The last inning of Saturday night’s White Sox-Cubs game was delayed several minutes when two fans trespassed onto Guaranteed Rate Field.

One man was chased and tackled by security guards while the teams were warming up for the bottom of the ninth inning at approximately 11 p.m., according to footage taken by fans at the game.

Moments later another man was seen lying on the ground at the bottom of the left-center field. He sustained a lower leg injury during the incident and was taken off the field in a medical cart. He was then transported to Insight Hospital in good condition, according to Chicago police.

Joseph Vega, 19, and Edgar Medina, 29, were charged with a felony count of criminal trespass, police confirmed.

Following the delay, the intra-city rivalry game concluded with the Cubs winning 3-1.
