2 home invasions reported overnight on Southwest Side in West Lawn, police say

A teenage boy and a woman, 56, along with a man, 20, were victims of two separate home invasions overnight  on the Southwest Side, Chicago police said.

The latest home invasion happened about 1:40 a.m. Thursday in the West Lawn neighborhood in the 3300 block of West 59th Place. Police said a 17-year-old boy exited his vehicle when a black SUV pulled up behind and two armed males approached and demanded his property.

The two robbers then forced the teenage boy into a residence where they took more property before fleeing in the black SUV.

About 1:25 a.m., a woman, 56, and a 20-year-old man, were both inside a vehicle in the 6200 block of South Kolin Avenue in the same neighborhood when they were approached by two armed robbers who demanded property and followed them into a residence where they demanded more property. An exchange of gunfire ensued inside the residence and the robbers fled the scene. No one was shot, but a firearm was recovered.

No one was in custody for either home invasion, and detectives were investigating.
