2 victims wounded Friday morning in shooting in Auburn Gresham neighborhood

A man and a woman were seriously injured Friday morning as they sat in a vehicle on the South Side in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 9:15 a.m., a 22-year-old man and a woman, 23, were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 8200 block of South Sangamon  Street when a black SUV approached and three gunmen exited and opened fire in the victim’s direction.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the shoulder and flank. He got himself to Saint Bernard Hospital but was later transferred to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The woman suffered gun shot wounds to the shoulder and a possible graze wound to the chin and was taken in serious condition to UChicago Medicine.

The gunmen fled eastbound from the scene in the black SUV and are not in custody. Detectives are investigating.
