2 women dead, 1 critically injured in West Side hit-and-run

Two women were killed and one was left critically injured by a hit-and-run in the Garfield Park neighborhood shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to Chicago police.

The three women were traveling through an intersection in a green Buick sedan at the 200 block of North Kedzie Avenue when they were struck by a white Dodge SUV traveling at high speed. The SUV driver disregarded a stop sign and kept traveling northbound after the collision, police said.

One woman, 47, was pronounced dead on the scene and another, 34, died at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. A 32-year-old victim remains at Stroger in critical condition.

No one is in custody yet, but Chicago Police’s Major Accidents unit is investigating the collision.
