Two men were reported wounded by gunfire Wednesday night in the same area of the South Shore neighborhood, police said.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., a man, 20, was standing outside in the 7800 block of South Colfax Avenue when several people armed with handguns approached him demanding his property, police said. The robbers shot the victim to the right leg and took his belongings before fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to UChicago Medicine where his condition was stabilized.
Another call came in about a separate shooting at the same location. An older man, 35, suffered multiple wounds to the body and was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
No one was in custody for either shooting and detectives were investigating.
