Kane County plans for carbon neutrality by 2050

Kane County, in a new draft plan designed to fight climate change, has set a goal to be carbon neutral by 2050. The county’s Climate Action Implementation Plan, currently in draft form and accepting public input, recommends actions that will reduce the county’s greenhouse gas emissions and increase resilience to the effects of climate change. Already bursting with ambitions, Mr. LT rehearsals begin early

This week the first rehearsal of the Mr. LT pageant kicked off. The pageant, historically a tongue-in-cheek fundraiser for a scholarship fund — has only a few weeks to come together and yet, by the seat of its pants, it does, offering goofy laughs and real talent to near sell-out crowds. Car crashes into Hobby Lobby store, per Niles police

A car driven by an 85-year-old woman crashed into an arts and crafts store on Dempster Street on Thursday morning, according to Niles Police. Niles Police responded to the crash on Thursday at 11:22 a.m. at the Hobby Lobby at 7229 W. Dempster St. Police said a Nissan Altima was partially in the store when it crashed into the north wall. Police did not report any injuries. Inspectors from the Niles Community Development Department determined the crash did not compromise the building’s structural integrity, and the business was allowed to remain open.
