ESPN, Fox, Warner Bros. Discovery announce plans to launch sports streaming platform in the fall
ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans on Tuesday to launch a sports streaming platform in the fall that will include offerings from at least 15 networks and all four major professional sports leagues. A one-stop app to view most sports should be a welcome sight for fans, who continue to navigate rising costs by subscribing to multiple services. The three companies will each share one-third ownership in the joint venture. A name for the service and pricing will be announced at a later date.

Glencoe officials consider updates to village’s water system
Glencoe officials are examining the village’s water situation as its water plant nears 100 years old. Meanwhile conversations are ongoing with another government agency regarding the possibility of transporting water from the village to the western suburbs. “Charting our water future is an extremely important long term project and we are going to work on it,” Village President Howard Roin said at a Jan. 31 forum featuring the elected leaders of Glencoe’s village board, park district and library board. The Indiana Senate passed an array of bills on Tuesday, which marked the deadline for the body to approve legislation originating in the Senate. Senate Bill 139, which would establish a pathway for funding psilocybin research, and Senate Bill 253, which would mandate the installation of safety equipment along Indiana’s Lake Michigan shoreline, were both passed by the body unanimously. “This bill provides hope to many individuals that are today in the hopeless situation,” SB 139 author Sen. School District 204 board approves new elementary English resource
After a pilot program in the fall semester, Indian Prairie School District 204 elementary schools will be fully adopting a new, comprehensive English language arts resource program for the 2024-25 school year. Trial opens for Munster man charged in 5-month-old daughter’s death
Jurors heard opening arguments Tuesday for a Munster man on trial for his 5-month-old daughter’s death. Justin Harling, now 28, was charged on Oct. 21, 2020 with murder and aggravated battery in the December 2019 death of Morgan Harling. Harling rejected a plea agreement in November 2022, saying he didn’t do it. During a supervised visit on Dec. 11, 2019, Harling, Kailani Strickland, the child’s mother, and Strickland’s aunt Jeralyn Kroll took Morgan and her half-brother, 8, to Texas Roadhouse in Dyer for the boy’s birthday.
