Police say a woman in a trenchoat entered the Texas megachurch of celebrity pastor Joel Osteen and started shooting with a rifle Sunday afternoon and was killed by two off-duty officers working security. Authorities say the woman was dead and a young child with her was critically hurt during the gunfire. They also say another man nearby was wounded. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said the shooting happened between services at the megachurch in that city. Osteen joined police at a news conference Sunday afternoon and said the shooting could have been much worse if it had happened during the larger 11 a.m. service. He said the church community is “devastated.”

Nebraska and Iowa fans alike came to Pinnacle Bank Arena hoping to see Caitlin Clark set the NCAA women’s career scoring record on a nationally televised celebration of women’s basketball.
