Police arrested Cordale Nichols, of Burnside, shortly after the explosion and charged him with murder, attempted murder and other felonies Monday.

A food delivery driver was wounded during an attempt robbery Friday night in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago police said. About 8:40 p.m., the victim was approached by a robber who demanded money in the 1400 block of North Austin Avenue. When the victim refused to hand over money, the robber shot him in both ankles before fleeing on foot, police said. The victim got himself to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park where he was listed in fair condition, police said. No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.  

A 46-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was beaten Friday night in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly after 10:45 p.m., the victim and a 39-year-old woman were involved in a fight with when two males approached in the 5400 block of West Congress Parkway. The males began to battered the 46-year-old man before fleeing the scene, police said. The woman suffered bruising to the face, and was taken to Rush University Medical Center and listed in good condition. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 34-year-old man was fatally wounded overnight in the Cabrini Green neighborhood on the Near North Side, Chicago police said. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., police responded to a call of a person shot and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.

The victim, describe by police as a male, was taken with multiple lacerations to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
