ECC president tells Elgin council new $80M manufacturing/tech building needed for area to stay competitive
Elgin Community College is having a big year. The college is celebrating its 75th anniversary and breaking ground on its $80 million Manufacturing and Technology Center this fall. The 150,000-square-foot center will be built on the northwest corner of Spartan Drive and McLean Boulevard. ECC purchased the land for $937,500 in 2020, along with the adjacent property, the former D Hangout Bar and Grill, for about $1.4 million in December. ECC’s project is going to cost $80 million.
