Norridge budget 11.3% higher but includes no tax increase

An increase of nearly 11.3 percent in expenses in the Norridge village budget this year will be offset by $2 million in grants and unspent funds from last year, Village Administrator Joanna Skupien said. “We’re happy with it,” Skupien said of the budget. “It’s good when you are able to budget from year to year. Man, 23, drowns in Lake Michigan off of Leone Beach

A 23-year-old man drowned in Lake Michigan off of Leone Beach last night, according to Chicago police. Police and fire personnel responded to the scene at approximately midnight on Sunday. A witness claimed to have last seen the victim in the water, police said. After the responders recovered the man’s body from the lake, he was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Area detectives are currently investigating, police said.
