Glencoe voters approve home rule; Kenilworth, Northfield reject measures

Glencoe voters appeared to have said yes for two separate referenda questions in Tuesday’s election, while it looks like Kenilworth and Northfield residents did not approve measures regarding their communities. In Glencoe, nearly 63 percent of the voters approved a switch to a home rule form of government, according to unofficial results from the Cook County Clerk. Any Illinois community with a population greater than 25,000 automatically receives home rule status. Northfield caucus announces candidates, helmed by trustee

Ahead of the April 2025 municipal elections, the Northfield Village Caucus has announced its slate of candidates led by incumbent trustee Tracey Mendrek for village president. On Oct. 12th, Caucus officials revealed its slate highlighted by the selection of Mendrek as president. Mendrek, the chief financial officer and strategist of a Chicago-based crisis communications firm, has lived in Northfield since 1989.
