Death investigation launched after 63-year-old man discovered unresponsive in Chicago River Friday afternoon

Chicago police opened a death investigation after a 63-year-old man was pulled from the Chicago River Friday afternoon in the Loop. About 1:20 p.m., a man was discovered unresponsive in the river in the 300 block of South Wacker Drive. He was pulled from the water and taken to Insight Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives were conducting a death investigation pending autopsy results.  

Voters say ‘yes’ to $26M referendum for Golf District 67 to improve school buildings, security: ‘We can move forward’

More than half of the voters who live within Golf School District 67 voted Tuesday to approve a $26 million referendum that called for the district to pay for capital and safety improvements in the two-school district. According to unofficial election results from the Cook County clerk’s office, 53% of voters chose to approve the referendum. About 47% voted against the measure.
