28-year-old fatally wounded during home invasion in Grand Crossing neighborhood

A 28-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night when two people kicked in the door at a Grand Crossing residence and opened fire, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday, the victim was inside an apartment in the 900 block of East 78th Street when two people kicked in the door and began shooting.

The victim was taken with a gunshot wound to the head to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
