2nd man charged in Homewood shooting, carjack attempt, police say

Homewood police said Wednesday a second man has been charged in a shooting and attempted carjacking that occurred last December.

Police said Quartez Dixon, 23, of Park Forest, was arrested and charged Tuesday in connection with the shooting Dec. 17 of a 19-year-old man.

He is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of attempted robbery with a firearm, Homewood police said.

Another man, Deandre Adams, 20, of Harvey, was arrested Jan. 22 and charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of unlawful vehicular invasion, according to police.

Homewood police and Fire Department paramedics responded at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 to a report of a gunshot victim in the 17900 block of Halsted Street, and police said the 19-year-old was shot during an attempted carjacking.

Adams was being held at Cook County Jail, according to Cook County Sheriff’s police records, and a Cook County judge Wednesday ordered him to be detained.
