Three people were killed in Harvey Wednesday afternoon after their vehicle hit a freight train, according to rail company CSX Transportation.
The company said at about 1:30 p.m. a vehicle bypassed lower crossing gates and hit the side of a freight passing on Park Avenue.
CSX said that Dolton first-responders arrived but that all three people in the vehicle were pronounced dead.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office said it has been notified of three deaths from that location but that none of the victims had yet been identified.
CSX said it is cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
