3 open fire after car accident involving stolen vehicle overnight on Southwest Side, wounding innocent bystander

A 19-year-old woman who was walking overnight in the Logan Square neighborhood was shot when at least three people opened fire after an accident involving a stolen vehicle, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 1:50 a.m., the driver of a white Dodge Caravan was headed north on California Avenue when it collided with a stolen gray Honda and a black Tesla in the intersection, police said. Three male occupants got out of the Dodge and began firing shots toward the gray sedan before fleeing the scene on foot, police said.

A woman who was walking nearby was struck by gunfire to the right shoulder and torso, and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was listed in good condition, police said.

No other injuries were reported at the scene, and detectives were investigating.
