3 teens wounded in broad daylight attack on Near West Side: police

Three teenagers were shot and wounded Friday afternoon near a Near West Side high school, according to Chicago police.

The teens, a 15-year-old girl and two boys, ages 15 and 16, were struck by gunfire while standing in the 200 block of South Hoyne Avenue around 2:45 p.m., police said in a statement.

The 16-year-old boy was struck in the lower back and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said. The other two victims each suffered leg wounds and were taken to Stroger in good condition.

The scene of the shooting was near Chicago Bulls College Prep, but it was unclear whether the victims were students there. No arrests had been made as Belmont Area detectives began their investigation, according to police.
