A 34-year-old woman was fatally wounded overnight on the WestSide in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 2 a.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 200 block of South Kostner Avenue and found an unresponsive woman lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the fatal attack.
