A 35-year-old man who was driving Thursday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood was wounded by gunfire and crashed into two parked vehicles, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., the victim was driving in the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue when a gunman on foot opened fire, striking him to the head and torso, police said. The victim attempted to flee the scene, but crashed into two empty vehicles.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He was identified as Tyrone Booker of the same block where he was fatally shot, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
