From brews and tacos to physical therapy and a fresh trim, Naperville’s business scene is welcoming a few newcomers — some recently launched and others soon on the way.
7 Brew nears opening
National drive-thru coffee chain 7 Brew is just under two months out from opening its first Chicago area location in Naperville at 1203 Iroquois Ave., according to Laura Karet, founder and CEO of the incoming franchise.
The goal is to open the new coffee spot by in or around the third week of October, she said Tuesday.
Originated in Arkansas in 2017, 7 Brew now has more than 267 coffee stands operating across the country. Per 7 Brew’s website, its menu has the capacity to offer more than 20,000 unique drink combinations, serving anything from your run-of-the-mill cold brew to a selection of energy drinks and infused sparkling waters.
Naperville’s impending 7 Brew store is the first of several Karet hopes to build in the city, alongside even more 7 Brew franchises she has planned for the larger Chicago metropolitan area and beyond.
By 2028, Karet intends to open 200 7 Brew stands, if not more, throughout Chicago, Nashville and Pittsburgh. Karet, who lives in Pittsburgh, said that in Naperville alone, the idea is to open five to six stands in all. A second Naperville spot, in addition to the store on Iroquois, is already in the works, she said.
The local franchise is actively recruiting for about 50 team members, she said.
“The Naperville community has been unbelievably welcoming (so far),” she said. “It’s a partnership that we appreciate, and I know it’s going to be a wonderful relationship going forward.”
Barbershop to offer luxury hair services
Royalty Barbershop & Salon will soon be open for hair care appointments at 414B W. 5th Ave. in Naperville.
Coming off of a ribbon-cutting hosted by the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce last week, Royalty will be launching by-appointment-only service starting the week of Sept. 9.
Royalty is a subsidiary of Mays Enterprise, a Naperville-based conglomerate founded by Naperville Central High School and North Central College alum Mikel Mays.
The idea to launch a barbershop came to Mays when he first moved to Naperville in 2016, he said. Back then, Mays found himself having to travel to neighboring suburbs to get a haircut from an experienced barber. The experience showed him there was room for improvement with access to high-quality hair care services, especially those serving minority populations, in the Naperville area, he said.
In addition to access, a familial connection to the cosmetology industry also encouraged May to move forward with bringing a barbershop to Naperville. His mother has been in cosmetology for years, Mays said, and his sister is just getting into the business.
Royalty now has a team of four barbers and hair stylists but will eventually expand to nine, he said. As the shop’s team grows, so will its hours, ultimately going from appointment-only to more regular hours.
Services that Royalty promises to offer includes braiding, sew-ins, razor haircuts, coloring, hair extensions, kids cuts, perms and alopecia care for hair loss, among others, Mays said.

Physical therapy center new to south Naperville
A physical therapy facility has opened in south Naperville. FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Center is now operating at 2124 S. Route 59.
Founded in 2012, FYZICAL is a franchise with locations across the country. It offers a “medically-based approach to health and wellness through comprehensive patient care using unique balance protocols and healthy lifestyle products and services,” according to its website.
Including the newest franchise, there are several FYZICAL therapy clinics located in and around Naperville. A ribbon-cutting to mark the launch of the south Naperville center is scheduled for Sept. 19.
Taqueria serving up authentic Mexican fare
A taqueria has opened up at 955 W. 75th St. in Naperville.
Aptly called Naperville Taqueria, the restaurant features a wide range of tacos as well as burritos, quesadillas and freshly made guacamole.
“At Naperville Taqueria, we’re passionate about delivering the true taste of Mexico to our customers,” owner Nir Mor said in a news release. “Our tacos are made with the freshest ingredients, and we take pride in crafting every dish with the same care and attention as you would find in a traditional Mexican kitchen.”
Naperville Taqueria is now open for lunch and dinner, with dine-in and takeout options available.
