An 80-year-old man was fatally wounded as he was sitting inside a vehicle Wednesday morning in the Washington Heights neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 10 a.m., James Stroud was sitting in a vehicle in the 1400 block of West 90th Street when another vehicle approached and someone fired shots in the victim’s direction, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled Stroud’s death a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds in an autopsy conducted Thursday.
Stroud suffered wounds to the back and head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.
No one was in custody for the shooting and detectives are investigating.
