An 81-year-old man who was pulled from a fire Thursday afternoon at residential building in the North Center neighborhood has been identified, officials said.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, officers and firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 5100 block of North Oakley Avenue where seven residents of the building were able to exit unharmed, police said.
Firefights discovered an 81-year-old man inside the building who was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man was identified as Jose Alcazar of the same address where the fire occurred, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
No other injuries were reported in the fire, officials said.
