A spate of mass shootings, including the recent killings in Highland Park, have sparked a renewed push for a federal ban on military-style assault weapons. Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering and others testified Wednesday before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on protecting communities from mass shootings.
