Starting pitcher Hayden Wesneski continued to trend in the right direction, but the Cubs couldn’t capitalize in extras and lost to Miami 5-4 on Sunday at Wrigley Field in 14 innings. The Cubs spoiled Sandy Alcantara’s shutout attempt by scoring twice in the ninth inning to tie the score.
