Flossmoor police say a Matteson woman died Friday morning in what is believed to have been a hit-and-run in the 19600 block of Governors Highway.
The village’s Police and Fire departments responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to investigate a fatal accident involving a pedestrian, the village said in a news release.
The woman was found unresponsive near the road, and first responders determined she was deceased, Flossmoor police Chief Jerel Jones said in the release.
The woman’s identity had not been released as of Friday afternoon.
Police are investigating along with the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
A section of Governors Highway was closed to traffic Friday morning during the investigation.
