The Porter County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim in Monday’s fatal wreck in Union Township as Justin Wallace, 41, of Hobart.
Deputies were dispatched around 7:47 a.m. Feb. 12 to the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the Lake County line on U.S. 30 at the Lake County Line, according to a release from Sgt. Ben McFalls, the department’s public information officer.
Police learned when they arrived that the male driver of a 2016 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle had died.
An initial investigation shows the SUV was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 in the area of the Lake County line. The vehicle struck a semi-truck trailer that was in the SUV’s lane of travel.
The Porter County Crash Reconstruction team is investigating.
