Buzz-worthy downtown restaurants delivering food to Park Ridge Feb. 23-29

Park Ridge residents can get a taste of highly-rated downtown Chicago restaurants from Feb. 23 to Feb. 29 through a third-party delivery service.

Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Arlington Heights residents can order home delivery service from Pilsen’s HaiSous Vietnamese Kitchen, Logan Square’s The Whale and Roots Pizza, which has West Town and South Loop locations, through DwellSocial.

According to Allen Shulman, co-founder and CEO of DwellSocial, the company partners with restaurants in Chicago to curate a specific menu that can be delivered long distances. Schulman said it was different from other food delivery services in that it’s not on-demand and that deliveries are usually outside the typical food delivery radius.

Park Ridge customers can order food from HaiSous Vietnamese Kitchen on Feb. 23 if they order online before noon, The Whale if they order on Feb. 28 before 11 a.m. and Roots Pizza if they order online before noon on Feb. 29.

Throughout that week, customers can order staples from those restaurants, including Chef Thai’s Caramelized Fish Sauce Wings, Lobster Deviled Eggs, Margherita Pizza, and also cake pops from West Town Bakery.

According to Shulman, aside from paying for the food, customers pay sales tax, a $5 reservation fee and an 18% delivery fee. Tipping would be optional after that.

Schulman said that the food delivered to the northern suburbs is made in the restaurant’s own kitchens. He said most delivery drivers work directly with DwellSocial, but some restaurants provide their own.

Schulman said DwellSocial pivoted during the pandemic to connect restaurants and suburbanites better. The site is paired up with 40 restaurants and changes its menu weekly.
