A veteran of Glenview’s municipal government is moving a little bit east as he takes a similar position in Glencoe.
Benjamin Wiberg has been hired as the new assistant village manager in Glencoe. Wiberg has worked in Glenview for several years in a series of roles including management analyst and for the last two years, he has served as the assistant to the village manager.
“I am excited to join Glencoe’s team as its next assistant village manager. Local government is my passion – I look forward to working closely with the village’s leadership team on a variety of special projects in service of the Glencoe community,” Wiberg said in a statement.
Wiberg will report to Deputy Village Manager Nikki Larson where his responsibilities will include being the project lead for the scheduled renovation of Glencoe’s Village Hall and a member of the project team working on the construction of the new clubhouse at the Glencoe Golf Club.
His annual salary will be $140,000, according to Larson.
“I’m thrilled that Mr. Wiberg is joining our team as our next assistant village manager,” Village Manager Phil Kiraly said in the statement. “His varied skill set, commitment to our organization’s customer-first mindset and his enthusiasm for the important work of local government will help us to achieve much in service to Glencoe’s residents and thriving business community. I am confident he will be a quick study and will be able to immediately work on moving several of our ongoing special projects forward. No doubt, he will be an important leader in our organization.”
Wiberg comes to Glencoe roughly two months after the Village Board approved a restructuring of the staffing organization. His first day is scheduled for March 1 as he succeeds Jon Pape who was hired earlier this year as assistant village manager in Hoffman Estates.
