Mark Caro: Try our 2024 ‘Os-Caro’ quiz in honor of Sunday’s Academy Awards show

It’s that Oscar time of year. We have first-time nominees, best-picture contenders directed by women and/or in non-English languages, and, of course, “Barbenheimer.” The “heimer” half — that is, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” with its pack-leading 13 nominations — is expected to dominate the 96th Academy Awards show on Sunday. Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is in the mix with eight nominations, along with Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things,” which has 11 nominations, and Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” with 10.

But the Oscars aren’t math, and there’s room for plenty of surprises and oddities, which provide the fodder for some questions to test your Academy Awards savvy and torment your cinematic soul. Will you be a “Maestro” of movie minutiae or a “Poor Thing” who drops a bomb and requires an “Anatomy of a Fall”?
