Business expo to focus on Black and Brown entrepreneur support
The Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce’s BRIDGES Committee for Black and Brown entrepreneurs will hold its first business expo from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Gallery 611, 611 E. Main St., East Dundee.
The free event will include networking from 5:30 to 6 p.m., training, education and expert table meetings from 6 to 8 p.m. and networking from 8 to 9 p.m., according to a news release.

South Elgin Earth Day clean-up event starts at SEBA Park Saturday
The village of South Elgin will hold an Earth Day volunteer park clean-up event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, starting at SEBA Park, 151 S. Water St.
Breakfast will be available at SEBA Park, according to the village’s website. Groups of 10 or more should email Jday@southelgin.com to be placed at a spot.

Judson University to celebrate baseball team anniversary this weekend
The Judson University will celebrate the Eagles baseball team program’s 55th anniversary with a doubleheader against St. Ambrose University at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Hoffer Field, 1151 N State St., Elgin.
In addition to saluting the 1969 Eagles as the school’s first baseball team, the university also will honor the Eagle baseball teams from 2012, 2013 and 2014, one of the most successful runs in school history, according to a web post for the free event.

Academy to present a free performance of ‘The Crane’ at ECC
The Elgin Area Leadership Academy is presenting a free performance of “The Crane” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Elgin Community College Spartan Theatre, Building H, 1700 Spartan Drive.
The play was written by retired Kane County Judge Wiley Edmonson, and will be performed by the Elgin Theatre Company, according to a news release. “The Crane” tells the story of a female crane operator who worked onsite at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
