A Hammond man is facing charges after stabbing his friend after an argument, court documents allege.
Patrick D. Mack, 52, of Hammond, was charged Monday with aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon, and battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
He is in custody, held without bail. His next hearing is May 2.
Hammond Police responded around 6 p.m. April 20 to the 7500 block of Northcote Avenue for a reported stabbing. The victim was sitting against a wall with a small kitchen knife with a 6-inch blade sticking out of his neck, above his collarbone.
“Patrick” did it, witnesses said, an older white man with a grey sweater, grey backpack and purple bike.
The victim was taken to the hospital.
He told police he befriended Mack, who was homeless, within the past month and let him stay at a relative’s home for a bit. They were watching TV when they started arguing and Mack came at him with a knife.
Mack fled the home.
Police arrested him on April 20 after they were called to 174th Street and Hohman Avenue for a brush fire. There, Mack was allegedly trying to set a tree on fire.
