Tuesday forecast: Line of thunderstorms expected, winds up to 65mph

A line of thunderstorms was expected to hit portions of central and northeast Illinois Tuesday morning with high winds up to 65 mph, weather officials said.

With the storms there is a small chance of tornadoes, but gusty winds up to 65 mph was expected. Small hail also was possible as the storms move west to east, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance of severe weather was low Tuesday morning, but storms could bring up to a dollar size hail, officials said.  Scattered thunderstorms are expected to redevelop in the afternoon hours with a chance of becoming strong especially east of Interstate 55 in eastern Illinois and northwest Indiana, officials said.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport is thunderstorms at 64 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport conditions were the same.
