Village of Franklin Park leaders offered public thanks for well-wishes that have poured in for mayor Barrett Pedersen who underwent a lung transplant Monday.
The surgery “was a complete success,” officials wrote in a post on the village’s Facebook page.
“His medical team is extremely pleased with his progress and he is making a full and rapid recovery,” the social media post states. “At the Village, we are looking forward to his return.”
It was not immediately clear how long Pedersen will have to be away from his village leadership role.
The 67-year-old Pederden was born and raised in the west suburb and was first elected Franklin Park village president in 2009.
