Taste the ′90s
The Taste of Highland Park is from 5 to 10 p.m. June 21-22 at The Lot in Highland Park. Tickets are free. At 525 Central Ave. 847-926-1000; enjoyhighlandpark.com/the-lot.
The festival features ‘90s acts Nine Days (“Absolutely (The Story of a Girl)”), Dishwalla (“Counting Blue Cars”) and the Spin Doctors (“Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong”). Thirteen food vendors will be on hand serving up a wide variety of food and drink including Mexican, Indian, American, Venezuelan, vegan/vegetarian, sweet treats, grilled items, pizza, wine, beer and cocktails.
Funky blues
ZooFunkYou will perform at 8 p.m. June 21 at the Sidecar Supper Club and Beer Garden in Batavia. Tickets are $5. At 12 N. River St. 630-406-9200; sidecarsupperclub.com/events.
The Chicago-based band ZooFunkYou is a blues-funk group that performs originals and covers.
Emmy-award winning comedian
Comedian Hasan Minhaj will perform at 7 p.m. June 22 at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana’s Hard Rock Live venue in Gary. Tickets are $40-$79.50. At 5400 W. 29th Ave. 219-228-2383; hardrockcasinonorthernindiana.com.
Hasan Minhaj is a two-time Peabody Award-winning comedian known for his breakout special “Homecoming King” and his critically acclaimed, political satire show “Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj,” which won a Peabody, an Emmy and a Television Academy Honor.
Minhaj was a senior correspondent at “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and headlined the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Music and meads
Jazz and Wine Fest is from 12 to 6 p.m. June 23 at Cantigny Park in Wheaton. Tickets are $50-$75. At 1S151 Winfield Road. 630-668-5161; cantigny.org.

Here’s Dolly
“Dolly Parton Tribute Starring Karen Hester” is at 7:30 p.m. June 21 at The Lyric Theater in Blue Island. Tickets are $59.95. At 12952 Western Ave. 708-972-0700; lyrictheater.com.
For more than 13 years, Karen Hester has been paying tribute to the legendary Dolly Parton in shows all over the world. In 2021, she won E’s “Clash of the Cover Bands” show and appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
