A house in Aurora was declared uninhabitable by firefighters due to smoke damage caused by a fire in the home’s attached garage, officials announced on Wednesday.
The Aurora Fire Department responded to the house in the 2100 block of Pointe Boulevard at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday after a resident called 911 to report that their two-car garage was on fire, according to a news release from the department.
A medic was the first on the scene, and reported seeing fire and smoke coming from the garage, the release said.
The fire was put out within 13 minutes of the first fire engine arriving on the scene, officials said. While the fire was contained to the garage, officials said smoke damage caused the house to be deemed uninhabitable.
Photos of the scene shared by the fire department show that the fire melted the vinyl siding of the garage and left a large hole just above the garage door.
All residents escaped the house without any injuries, and no firefighters were injured, according to the release. Officials said the two adults and two children who were living at the house are staying with family.
In total, four engine companies, two truck companies, two medical units and three chief officers responded to the fire, the release said.
Officials said the fire is still under investigation by the Aurora Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team.
