Here are some events happening from June 28 to July 4 in the Chicago suburbs and Northwest Indiana.

Move to the beat

An African Dance and Drum Circle is 6 p.m. June 28 at Miller Beach Arts and Creative District in Gary. Tickets are $5. At 540 S. Lake St. 219-885-9114; facebook.com/MillerBeachArts.

Glenda “Kposivi” Clark and Baba Olabisi present a workshop in rhythm-making and dance. Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments — drums, rattles, shakers or claves. Dancers are asked to attend.

Comedic play

“Leading Ladies” is staged at 7:30 p.m. June 28-29 at the Albright Community Theatre in Batavia. Tickets are $18-$23. At 100 N. Island Ave., third floor. 630-406-8838; albrighttheatre.com.

Written by Ken Ludwig, “Leading Ladies” focuses on two down-on-their-luck English actors who try to pass themselves off the long-lost English nephews of a wealthy dying woman in Pennsylvania to inherit her fortune. Hilarity ensues when it turns out the relatives are actually nieces and not nephews. This is the final weekend of the show’s run at the Albright.

They’ve got the blues

The Blues Fest is at 1 p.m. June 29 and 12 p.m. June 30 at Brothers’ Field in Long Grove. Tickets are free. At 340 Old McHenry Road. 224-252-9973; brothersfieldlonggrove.com/events/blues-fest.

The June 29 lineup includes Willie Buck, Sheryl Youngblood, Ivan Singh, Casey Lee and the Blue Line Blues Band and others. Brothers’ BBQ food truck will be out from 5 to 8 p.m. Day two of the event is billed as a Lowkey Blues day on the brick patio near the Tiki Bar featuring talented Chicago blues musicians. The Tievoli Pizza food truck will be out from 12 to 3 p.m. Bring your own lawn chairs.

Funky fun

Con Funk Shun and Heatwave take the stage at 7 p.m. June 29 at Country Club Hills Amphitheater in Country Club Hills. Tickets are $50-$135. At 4150 W. 183rd St. 708-798-2616; cchtheater.com/event-directory.

The 1970s and ′80s funk-soul band Con Funk Shun perform with the 1970s disco-funk band Heatwave for a night of tripping the light fantastic.

Go your own way

Second Hand News performs at 8 p.m. June 29 at The Venue in Aurora. At 21 S. Broadway Ave. Tickets are $20-$25. 331-212-8490; themusicvenue.org.

While you can’t see Fleetwood Mac in concert anymore, you can see still see this tribute band comprised of veteran local musicians performing all the hits.
