A Gary man was arrested on an attempted murder case from April — after he was recently shot in leg, police said on Facebook.
Officers responded Sunday to the 300 block of Clark Road for a man shot in the left leg. After he gave a fake name in the hospital, they figured out who he was.
The U.S. Marshals put Devonte J. Green, 28, into “protective custody.” When he was released Tuesday, cops took him to the Lake County Jail. A court date is not yet set.
Authorities allege he shot a woman in the leg.
On April 30, Gary officers were sent to the 500 block of Vermillion Place in reference to a shooting, the probable cause affidavit states. Officers spoke to a woman who said she was shot in the left leg by her friend’s ex-boyfriend. She said Green had told her to “get out of (his) face before I shoot you.” She was walking away when he shot her, records state.
Aside from attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, he is also charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun with a prior felony conviction, a Level 5 felony.
