Boy, 12, among 3 boys wounded overnight in separate shootings on South, Southwest sides

A 12-year-old boy was among three juveniles wounded in overnight gun violence in three separate shootings in the city’s Washington Park, Woodlawn and Lower West Side neighborhoods, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, a 12-year-old boy was walking in the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood when shots rang out, striking him to the right leg. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Earlier Friday night, a 14-year-old boy was shot about 10:45 p.m. while he was walking through an alley in the Woodlawn neighborhood in the 800 block of East 65th Street, police said.

Someone inside of a black Jeep opened fire striking the boy to the abdomen. He was taken in critical condition the same hospital as the 12-year-old boy.

About an hour earlier, a 17-year-old boy was struck by gunfire in the 1500 block of West 18th Street in the Lower West Side neighborhood, police said. He was standing on the sidewalk when shots rang out striking him to the left leg. He was driven by a friend to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings, and detectives were investigating.
