Andrew administrator named Assistant Principal of the Year
Tim Dalton, assistant principal of activities at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, recently was named the 2024 South Cook Assistant Principal of the Year by the Illinois Principals Association.
Dalton joined the Andrew administrative team in the 2002-2003 school year as the associate principal. At the start of the 2004-2005 school year, he became the division chair for business and mathematics and held that role until the 2020-21 school year, when he became the assistant principal of activities.
DeCraene named assistant principal of activities at Stagg
Andrew DeCraene is moving from his position as head dean at Stagg High School in Palos Hills to become the school’s new assistant principal of activities. DeCraene will replace Mary Pat Carr who is assuming the role of director of safety and security.
DeCraene began his career in District 230 in 2006 as a dean of students at Sandburg High School in Orland Park then advanced to head dean in 2011. In 2022, he transferred to Stagg.
Father Perez KOC awards scholarships
Father Perez Knights of Columbus Council 1444 awarded $1,000 scholarships to four ambitious scholars during a recent meeting.
The awardees included Joseph Herber of St. Barnabas Parish who received the Perez St. Sabina Alumni Scholarship, Austin Hodges and Clarie McKeon of St. Christina Parish who accepted the Karen Lynch Scholarship and the Past Grand Knight Marty McCue Scholarship, respectively, and Mary Gillian from St. John Fisher Parish who earned the Christopher Ulrich Scholarship.
Joseph Cardinal Bernardin KOC install officers
The newly elected officers of the Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Council 324 of the Knights of Columbus were installed for the 2024-25 year at a ceremony in the American Legion Hall on Kedzie Avenue in Evergreen Park. They included Jim McKeever, Phil Kurylowicz, John Fox, David M. Harrington, David R. Harrington, Tom Morrissey, Ray Whitlock, Tom Heinen, Tim Morrissey, Conor McKeever, Tom Ostrowski, Ed Sheehan, Dave Sebok and John Ryan.
Local students recognized for career-readiness at Augustana College
A handful of area students were recognized at Augustana College’s annual Viking Score Banquet this spring.
Viking Score points are awarded to students as they complete career-readiness tasks including career exploration exercises, reflections with career coaches or skill-building experiences.
