Fire causes $150,000 in damage to Carpentersville home, fire department says

A late morning fire at a home in the Lake Marian area of Carpentersville caused about $150,000 in damage, a Carpentersville Fire Department news release said.

Responding to an 11:38 a.m. call Thursday to 234 Sunset Drive, firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the first-floor entryway and fire in the first-floor living room, the release said.

No residents or firefighters were injured, and a cat was rescued in good condition. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Carpentersville firefighters were assisted by the Barrington Fire Department, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, East Dundee & Countryside Fire Protection District, Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District, Rutland Dundee Fire Protection District, West Dundee Fire Department, Pingree Grove Fire Protection District, South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District, and Elgin Fire Department.
