The Porter County Sheriff’s Department has been called in to investigate the death of a Portage Township boy who was found unresponsive early Sunday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies were called around 4:41 a.m. on Aug. 18 to a residence in the 300 block of Midway Drive for a report about a boy, 5, found not breathing and unresponsive, according to a release from Sgt. Ben McFalls, the department’s public information officer.
Officers arrived on the scene and immediately began CPR but the child could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
