A Gary man is facing multiple counts of dealing cocaine and methamphetamine after a six-month investigation by the Porter County Multi Enforcement Group.
Terrance Donte Jackson is charged with dealing in cocaine with the intent to distribute, a Level 2 felony; 10 counts of dealing in methamphetamine, ranging between Level 3 and Level 4 felonies; possession of a machine gun, a Level 5 felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony; and other gun and drug charges.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a confidential informant told police they could purchase methamphetamine from Mark Myers, which police knew was an alias that Jackson used.
On Feb. 9, the informant told police they intended to purchase meth from Jackson at his house in the 700 block of Mount Street in Gary. The informant was equipped with an audio/video recording device and a predetermined amount of cash, records state. The informant proceeded to park in an alley behind Jackson’s house and conduct business with a man in a Ford F150. Then the informant left and met up with police at a predetermined debriefing location, court records state.
The informant showed them a plastic bag with a shard-like substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 2 grams.
The informant facilitated four other controlled purchases, the affidavit states:
*On Feb. 29, the informant purchased 1.1 grams of methamphetamine from Jackson at a residence in the 5000 block of West 5th Avenue.
*On July 3, the informant purchased 3.9 grams of methamphetamine from Jackson in the 700 block of Mount Street.
*On July 11, the informant bought 1.8 grams of methamphetamine from Jackson in the 700 block of Mount Street.
*On July 25, the informant purchased 1.63 grams of methamphetamine from Jackson in the 700 block of Mount Street.
After a warrant was obtained, a search was executed on Aug. 12 at the Mount Street residence where police found more than $42,000 in cash, 25 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of cocaine, multiple guns, and Glock switches, which can turn a gun fully automatic, records state.
A second search was conducted at the residence in the 500 block of West 5th Avenue in Gary, which is owned by Jackson. Police found 25.7 grams of cocaine, two Glock firearms, and digital scales with drug residue, court records state.
In 2003, Jackson was convicted in federal court of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with the intent to distribute, which makes him a serious violent felon. He also is facing a charge of dealing in methamphetamine from 2023, the affidavit states.
