A wreck between a motorcyclist and a sport utility vehicle in which the motorcyclist was injured closed U.S. 30 in Porter County for part of Monday afternoon, police said.
According to the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, an initial investigation shows a motorcycle and a Nissan Pathfinder SUV were traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 30, east of County Road 250 W.
According to a witness statement, the motorcycle was believed to be traveling above the speed limit and rear-ended the SUV while both were traveling in the left lane.
The male driver of the motorcycle was transported to a hospital because of injuries sustained in the collision. No one in the SUV was injured.
The highway was closed for approximately two hours late Monday afternoon because of the crash, police said.
